[The letter is delivered by a very reluctant Shinji, who seems a little nervous about being at Mognet Central, like he isn't sure what to do with himself. He will run letters back to Kaji, but outside of that, he will remain at Mognet Central.]

Artemicion:

My name is Ryoji Kaji, I am one of the new Heroes of Light in the city, but that's not what I want to talk to you about. I saw your call to action regarding the status of moogles here in the city, and I want to help you. This sort of thing is exactly the job I used to perform back home. We need to make sure that your demands are taken seriously, that the people in charge really know that they need you for this city to run at all. I told Shinji that he should join you guys, your cause is certainly worthy enough.

A 10% increase in pay, reduction of work hours, and decrease in price of Kupo Nuts (Shinji tells me they're very delicious, I'm going to have to take his word on that). These are fine goals, but are you certain that the government won't simply take those concessions back at a later date? I'd be glad to help with some sort of contract or agreement that would be much harder for the government to get around than any individual law or wage change.

If I can help, because I'm technically an outsider, the government might see me as a more neutral party, but I want to help see you moogles get everything that you want. I couldn't get Shinji to completely agree to stop working, so he will send me back replies from you only. Feel free to contact me at any time.

Hello. Thank you for your offer. How Mognet functions is complicated. Essentially, half of Mognet is under the responsibility of Mognet Central, the other half is under the responsibility of the local government. For you and Shinji, it is the government of Aqures Ixen.

The decision of going on strike wasn't mine. I was against the strike because I know you will need Mognet if you are to help us. The government of Aqures Ixen is generally less strict that those of other countries, this is why they often go on strike here. Moogles who work in Imperial territories wouldn't even try to go on strike.

But I think you can help us. If you can convince Wedge to increase the pay of Moogles working at Aqures Ixen, or if you can convince him to reduce the price of Kupo Nuts, I promise to convince the others to call the strike off, even if it's not the amount they requested. I believe 10% is unrealistic, so even something less should be enough. Because you are a Hero of Light, he may listen to you.

If you can convince Jessie to apologize it should be enough too, but I don't think you will be able to ever convince her.

All I know if that Jessie got the pay of a Moogle cut by 10%, I don't know why. But that's just an excuse really, going on strike is like a sport for some employees at Mognet.

I've seen a Moogle lift ten times his weight once because he was drawn to the smell of a Kupo Nut. But please just ignore the strike. It'll be over next week, they'll do it again in two months-- There's really no end to this.

Don't kill, don't rob, don't assault people either verbally of physically. There is a court system, seances are held at the castle when necessary. If you have a specific question, ask it. If you want broad facts regarding how law enforcement works in our kingdom, go to a library, grab some books on the topic and read them.

I've been talking to Wedge about your lack of activity. He should be doing something about it soon. If you want to get an employment in law enforcement, send a request then if you think you can get in.

Question: Suitably jarred by the Crystal Stasis that has befallen four of the Heroes Sephiroth is very concerned that there might be warning signs that the same might happen to him. He's certainly been weaker since he arrived to Aqures Ixen and Spencer suggested that Jessie might know more since she's the scientist.

So he'll explain this and then ask if she has any ideas about what might be causing it.

That's not a problem either, but since I have it, and I already know how to fix up many a giant machine, I'm wondering if I can get my own blacksmith thing going on. A smithy I guess is the term... it's kind of outdated where I'm from but, yeah. This place is big and I can't seem to find one on my own so I'm going to presume there isn't one. And what's it going to hurt to have the best of the best open up and keep these blades in top form!?

In short; how do I get smithy?

There is special form to fill for creating your own business; ask your Moogle and they'll get it for you. Just be convincing enough in your request, because Biggs will heavily weigh for your request to be rejected otherwise.

Seeing that they must be burning something powerful that releases enough steam energy to move a massive airship, what do those things run on?

Crystals are what power Airships, but how it happens exactly is for the most part a mystery. The basic design of regular Airship engines were designed by Dr. Cid or Roalie, but he based his design off Ancient technology unearthed and studied at Aqures Ixen. What is known is that the engines literally tear apart crystals and use their energy to power up the airship.

According to my theory in Crystal Researches, Crystals are the manifestation of the life energy coursing the planet. If this theory is correct of course, then the moral implications are very serious, but this is not the question here.

Black Mage Moogle Interrogation

How: Sephiroth will go in person, even if it's harder to get around. Mognet can't be trusted anymore.
Question: First of all he wants to touch-base with regards to the various grades of molecular anomalies that she discovered and said she'd try to get the equipment to investigate further, whether there is any progress. Also who is O'aka?

Unless Jessie has a result to the contrary, Sephiroth will suggest if it might be something to do with time, based on the information imparted to them during the shared dream. But he won't explain that if Jessie asks; it's not his place to tell her that which may or may not yet have been decided to tell the NPC's.

Jessie will reply that she's still trying to get the right equipment, until then there isn't a lot she can do. O'aka is an acquaintance of hers, a merchant established in Aerilon and who manages to get his hands on all sort of things; including imperial equipment. She'll mention that the Gunner Job now available to them is of imperial origins and other heroes bought it to O'aka.

Jessie will be perplexed at his question but will answer that no, she doesn't think time has anything to do with the anomaly.

Question: Ashe will be speaking to Biggs about what Aqures Ixen plans to do in light of the attack on Esdham. She will be asking Wedge about the celebration in the Empire, particularly asking if he has access to a detailed map of the Empire/Imperial City. Some of the Heroes have been invited due to their professions and Ashe would like to prepare little travel packets for them with info, maps, etc. She will be asking Jessie about Kalki and bringing up some of the info found in her diary.

Biggs will say that there is nothing planned-- Aqures doesn't have the military power to stand against the Empire and a war would be sure to be devastating even if, in his opinion, it would be the best thing in the long term. He'll also mention both Wedge & Jessie have voted against officially declaring war to the Empire.

Wedge will give her a world map with locations of the Imperial City and of the Heran Research Center, along with a map of the Imperial City. he'll say information are scarce and they don't know much-- He'll also say a couple government official will be going too, but answering to these invitations is unwise.

Jessie will reply she knows nothing about Kalki aside from what is already known (triumvirat, head of research). She'll be surprised regarding the diary, but will mention she was never contacted by any Kalki back then.

Wedge will say he's already aware of their little escapade in imperial territory and will ask her if by chance they have gone completely crazy because even if, miraculously, it worked and they even brought back Cid with them, that was not bravery but stupidity madness.

He'll also mention that the Empire has cut absolutely all communications, so they have no idea what's happening there, except that it's probably bad.

Two Letters

Question: I'm one of the group who made it the sub-level 27 in the Heren Research Center before we left. Since seeing the diary of Lady Kalki, I figured I should tell you about what we saw there. The room we entered had a door activated by our crystals.

Inside that first room were many large test tubes. Some were empty, but others had people I assume are supposed to be 'Heroes of Light' due to the crystals on tables next to them, but rather than being encased in crystal like others were saw held in storage there, these ones were not in crystal, but floated in a green liquid. They tubes had cables going from them to a huge crystal stored in another room. This crystal was cracked and fractured, and had something, maybe someone, inside of it. I have included a drawing of this crystal in the margin(ooc: it should be pretty close to what they saw since the art of drawing has been passed down the Amstrong line for generations). The room around it seems to have been slowly crystallizing.

The first room also had screens with text in the language seemed to be called Ancient. And the crystal of others present, those who didn't first arrive at the research center, seemed to react to the giant crystal in the second room.

Is there anything you can possibly make of this information?

The Coliseum in Esdham would be best for that. If that's too far, I'd recommend setting up something in the plains outside of Aqures Ixen.

The technology you saw was most likely of Ancient design, which would explain why it reacted to your Crystals.

I could elaborate many theories as to what the Crystal you saw and what the thing inside it was, but without more information, that would be pointless. It may have been a very ancient case of Crystal Stasis, or a prison set to encase something. Your Crystals do seem to react to a great many things in this world, so this isn't very helpful.

"I know you have done tests on us and research in the past. I was looking to do safe tests on the crystals. Not like the research facility and not on the heroes crystals but on the job affiliated crystals. Just something so we can understand the power and what it can be used for. I know you've been studying them and it is a lot of research but I wanted to help in some way."

Her goal was to learn after requesting the scholar job. Thinking that it might help them understand their position as heroes and their roles within this world.

"I already know a lot regarding the regular Job Crystals. We use them for our people and I have made research on them. Yours are the mystery, they're the Crystals that can contain many Jobs and seemingly keep you immortal. But they seem to be connected to you in many ways." She paused. "Should I conduct test on them, there is no way to ensure they would be safe."

In short, that would be very dangerous to try.

How: Mognet, but each letter will be hand-copied and delivered personally by her moogle, Mogomi
Question:
True to her earlier promise to Biggs, Chiaki will be providing a detailed report of everything that happened to Group B in the dream, or at least everything that happened to Chihiro and in Chihiro's vicinity (I know the thread is just getting started, but I wanted to make sure I put this here before I forgot about it - her report will contain the contents of how things eventually turn out).

She will also include details concerning how she was somehow able to briefly speak into his mind to subtly influence his thoughts and actions. Since this report is being sent right when she wakes up and before she has a chance to talk to anyone else, she will suggest that this is probably a dream others had as well, but emphasize that this is a guess on her part.

Finally, the report will also contain a copy of the letter Kalki sent, copied word for word.

She also has a few things directed at NPCs other than the ones on this list, so I'll summarize them briefly here just to make sure they're okay and are things that I can reasonably have her do:

-Chiaki is going to follow Kalki's directions to meet Chihiro's doppelganger in Trano Golsaucia on April 18th and spend a few days befriending him and playing Triple Triad together before catching the return flight to Aqures Ixen

-she will then go to Balicea on April 23rd to ask the Queen of Cards to make Triple Triad cards of herself and also of Chihiro

-she will then continue on to Trano Golsaucia to meet with Chihiro's doppelganger again and give him the card with her face on it; she will keep the one with his face on it and only use it when playing against him

Biggs will have the convenient excuse that he is about to leave for Esdham to cut the conversation short, but will say the information shall be forwarded to Jessie as she's the specialist in these kind of things. He'll say that Jessie thinks the previous dream was sent by someone, so he'll assume someone sent that dream too-- Kalki if the letter is anything to go by.

He'll also recommend not going to the address sent by Kalki unless she has a small army behind her, but he doesn't expect her to follow that advice.

As for everything else, it is all okay! The only thing is that to make a card of Chihiro, the Queen of Cards will need a detailed drawing or a photograph of Chihiro, or better even, for Chihiro's Doppelganger to come see her. Doppelgangers can be used freely as NPCs, so feel free to go for whichever option you feel is best.

Date: Monday at the earliest time he can manage, which will be nine am
How: he shall be meeting her in person, as he had told her in their correspondence
Question: Genesis feels that matter in this world are too close in coincidence to the matters that had plague his and Sephiroth's home world. Not only that, he is also forming several theories based upon events that seem to echo between the two worlds and the information drunkenly shared between him and Sephiroth before the dream events. Being that he didn't get the dream, he still is working from theories, however he is going to lay out the information he does.

Which means he will bring up the fact that the three SOLDIERs Sephiroth, Angeal and himself are carriers of JENOVA cells and that they are connected to the Calamity of his planet. That the cells retain a certain awareness of self and that if enough of the cells are drawn together, the cells will start acting in accordance to the strongest will in command of the cells. He will ask her to check to see if he also has the same taint as those already tested and then explain that they are flawed in the eyes of the scientists that created them, though Sephiroth was considered the height of perfection they could obtain at the time.

He will also tell ehr about the theory of Rebirth as he heard it, that on his Planet there were two beings who were to be called when the Planet could not survive. One would cleanse the Planet while the other gathered all the souls together and then move them all to a new world to begin over again. He will talk about the Lifestream and how it seemed similar in effect to the tales of a first crystal here and then end it all with saying that he did not trust scientists. They created the flaws that gave birth to himself and the other two Generals. They destroyed so much but he is willing to trust her to at least look at this information and see if it would help her research.

Jessie will do as he asks and test him. The results will give away an anomaly comparable to the one she noticed in Sephiroth and Angeal, less than Sephiroth's but more than Angeal's. She will also say that what he says is disturbingly similar to what's happening on Crystallis. From what she's noticed, some worlds happen to be fairly similar to each others, whereas others are radically different. She'll hypothesize that if anything, the Calamity from his world and the one from Crystallis may share some characteristics.

Likewise, given what has happened in the Research Center and the crystallization process, it is possible Kalki has found the Calamity or at least part of the Calamity.

She'll say however, that she doesn't believe they should be worried about the cells of Jenova in them. If she had to make an educated guess, she would suppose the anomaly she sees is actually suppressing their powers and the cells, hence why Sephiroth's anomaly is more noticeable than his. The way he describes Jenova, she sounds like a Calamity destroying worlds within a set universe, whereas Crystallis' Calamity destroys worlds among a variety of universes if the legends are to be trusted. This doesn't change the similarity though, and she will agree that studying Jenova could help learn more about Crystallis' Calamity.

Jessie will end by saying she's sorry to hear he doesn't trust scientists, but cannot blame him as after all, Scientists on Crystallis have caused tragedies, if Kalki's research and what her diary contains is to be believed.

Question: Chiaki would like to purchase the translated computer offered in the May event post. As discussed here, taking the middle of the road of the monthly earnings quoted by the mods and adding it to her reward from Esdham and the money she's earned capturing monsters, she has around 160k in personal funds. She will be bringing Doji Makoto with her to assist in negotiating the sale of her Crystal of Illusion to O'aka for 500k, which will give her just enough to purchase the translated computer at the current discount price. As for Makoto's negotiating chops, he is a member of the Crane Clan from the Legend of the Five Rings setting - the clan most well-known for its deft diplomacy, cunning courtiers, and extensive network of favors.

Question: In the interests of trying to get the Heroes some better deals, she is going to offer her services to the merchant. Current OOC plotting has her looking at the Pirate Job Crystal and the Computer for Chiaki

O'aka will accept, though the jobs he offer for that aren't easy. Namely, if she accepts, Kidd will have to take on a security role on an airship sailing from Aerilon to Nabila City to smuggle some goods from the Empire into Aerilon. The mission should take four days and shouldn't be very risky, but she may have to fight some imperial guards.

He'll also tell her that since she works with Jessie, she gets a 50% deal on top of the current promotion.
