Of what they do and for what reasons. We do expect example from their history to be provided when discussing their personality. However, we want to see an analysis of their personality, and not a timeline summarizing their lives. We would like to see around 400 words for this section. Furthermore, it has to be something written dictated or written by your character, not something the Moogle did on its own. Crystallis Moogle Name: The name your Moogle will have! Mikaela Hyakuya | Seraph of the End | Reserved | 2/3
Name: Mikaela Hyakuya; born Mikaela Shindō
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Canon: Seraph of the End
Canon Point: Episode 12
History: Mikaela
Personality:
Being born in an apocalyptic world is enough to make any sane person depressed. Even worse is getting treated like food by vampires, from the moment of birth. That’s all Mikaela has known throughout his life, and yet, he is a very cheerful and optimistic child, warm and affectionate. Despite being abandoned by his parents at a young age – thrown out of a moving car, no less – he enters the Hyakuya Orphanage and quickly befriends the other orphans. It’s the beginning of a new life for him, and he embraces it, despite everything he has just gone through. When he meets the averse Yuichiro, Mikaela smiles and encourages him to welcome his new family. Yuichiro gives him a rude response, and Mikaela doesn’t hesitate to beat him up, in defense of his beloved family. It’s after this that he and Yuichiro slowly start to become friends.
During their years in the orphanage, Mikaela and Akane, the third oldest child in their family, essentially act like the father and mother of their group, respectively. While Yuichiro continues to behave defiantly against the vampires that drink their blood, Mikalea secretly plots a way for all of them to escape into the outside world. Even at twelve years old, he is very intelligent and calculating. Though there isn’t a formal education for the human children, Mikaela and Yuichiro often stay up late at nights, reading books by candlelight. Mikaela decides to let a powerful vampire named Ferid drink his blood, knowing full well that Ferid has a special preference for him. His plan is to sneak around Ferid’s home and lift a map to use as an escape route, as well as a weapon to help the children defend themselves.
Unfortunately, Ferid outsmarts him, and ends up slaughtering all of their family, right in front of both Mikaela and Yuichiro. The only one that survives is Yuichiro, because of Mikaela’s noble sacrifice. He endures losing an arm, and is willing to slowly bleed to death, just so Yuichiro can escape. He even shoves Yuichiro away, and yells at him not to make all their deaths completely meaningless. After Yuichiro makes it to safety, Mikaela is turned into a vampire against his will by Krul Tepes, Third Progenitor and vampire queen of Japan. Because of his unique circumstances, he decides to live with Krul and the other vampires, biding his time until he can find Yuichiro again.
On the day Krul turns him into a vampire, his past self seems to also have died. He doesn’t smile anymore, submits to pessimism, spends most of his time brooding, and isolates himself to just train and become stronger. Strong enough to eventually confront the humans that end up taking Yuichiro in, so he can reclaim his family. His self-loathing skyrockets, as he considers himself nothing more than a horrible monster, just as the humans see him. When Mikaela goes to visit his old house, he runs into a small child that is immediately terrified of him. He is clearly hurt by this, and continues to hate his maddening existence, caught in a hell between vampire and human. Prompted by Lacus to identify what he is, Mikaela responds with a fake smile, calling himself an ugly vampire.
Due to his hatred of vampires, over the next four years, Mikaela refuses to associate with them beyond being reluctant comrades. They all find him mysterious, and they’re even jealous, calling him Krul’s pet. He is dependent on Krul for her blood, in order to maintain some of his lingering humanity, so he treats her a little nicer than the other vampires. That’s not to say he feels loyal to Krul, but he knows how to put on a mask, to get what he wants and needs. He isn’t a full vampire because he refuses to drink human blood, and chooses to resign himself to Krul. Mikaela absolutely hates Ferid, however, and turns his back on him in countless occasions, while also ignoring all of his provocative advances.
Despite his intelligence, Mikaela is still very innocent and naïve, in some ways. He believes Krul when she tells him Ferid’s slaughter was deliberate, and implies that the humans condoned it. Evidently, the Hyakuya Orphanage was just a front for humans to exploit a hidden power in the children that lived there. Once Mikaela learns this fact, he begins to hate humans, considering them just as cruel for experimenting on Yuichiro and trying to turn him into a weapon. Though he would like nothing more than to rush out and rescue Yuichiro, he has enough patience to wait for the right time. Going directly against all the other vampires would make him a hunted target, and he still has dependency on Krul, for the time being.
Mikaela has extreme willpower, being able to fight against his bloodlust for four years. He has moments when he falters, and comes close to drinking a human’s blood, but he always stops himself before taking that final step. In a moment of cruelty, Ferid deliberately cuts a young boy to try and tempt Mikaela into drinking his blood, but he still refuses. He even somewhat sticks up for the boy, coldly reminding Ferid that it’s against vampire law to drink directly from humans. The desire for blood is so strenuous that it becomes painful for Mikaela to refrain, but he desperately clings to that diminishing part of his humanity. Yuichiro is one of his biggest motivations for walking this fine line of insanity. Mikaela knows how much Yuichiro hates vampires, and he secretly fears becoming something that his best friend will despise.
Human or vampire, Mikaela definitely seems to have a soft spot for girls. As a child, he was very sweet on Akane, often jumping to agree with her; they were almost as close as him and Yuichiro. On one vampire mission, he saves a young girl from a monster, in spite of his claim of hating all humans. She offers her blood to him in gratitude, but he gently turns her down, when it’s something he has wanted for a very long time. Even though he definitely has his reasons for not mistreating Krul, Mikaela is notably kinder in her presence. He apologizes for attacking her, after one occasion of manhandling her for blood, when his hunger was driving him crazy. In Shinjuku, Mikaela stops Yuichiro from attacking his team captain, Shinoa Hiragi, by letting himself get stabbed. He claims it’s for Yuichiro’s sake, but then again, this isn’t the first time he shows partiality toward a girl.
In battle, Mikaela is very much a lone wolf, choosing to fight by himself, even though that’s much riskier than teaming up with the other vampires. It has to do with his trust issues, and his desire not to be weak, since he couldn’t do anything when Ferid slaughtered his family. He is also helpless to stop Krul if she decides to kill him, since she is the one that turned him. Mikaela is humble, casually brushing off recognition and praise after saving a human. He has too much self-loathing to identify any of his good qualities. And yet, when facing a true opponent, his confidence can surface, bordering arrogance. Despite Guren being a powerful fighter of the Moon Demon Company, Mikaela boasts that he will kill him. This shows blatant disrespect toward humans, for being inferior to vampires.
There is an ugly side to his diligence and devotion to his mission of rescuing his last remaining family. He tries to carry Yuichiro away from his human friends, when they are fighting for their lives against the strong vampire nobles. Each one of them gets overpowered, and the vampires start drinking their blood, while Yuichiro struggles to break free from his childhood friend. Yuichiro adamantly refuses to leave them behind, and Mikaela pounces on his back, begging him to abandon them so they can run away together. He only cares about saving Yuichiro, and is perfectly willing to sacrifice both vampires and humans to preserve the one life most precious to him.
After Yuichiro passes out from using his Seraph powers, Ferid has to physically force Mikaela to leave the battlefield. Yuichiro is surrounded by his human friends, and Mikaela glares at them hatefully. Both factors (the humans and Ferid) stand in his way, and it frustrates him to be so close to his goal, and yet ultimately fail. Later on, Mikaela wakes up to the surprising sight of tears – the first ones he has shed, since becoming a vampire. When he gets a moment to himself that night, he looks up at the moon and silently vows to save Yuichiro from the humans. Ironically, on the other side, Yuichiro also promises to save Mikaela from the vampires.

Mognet Sample:
Yu,
There is a mission you might want to check out. It’s to defeat a monster and get a rare item from it. We can’t go by ourselves, but it looks like the only one worth our time.
Do you know anyone with a Thief Job Class? Make sure they’re skilled enough to take on this job.
- Mikaela
