Aqures Tosf
Once home to the Tarutarus and to the Temple of Fire, the city of Aqures Tosf was destroyed twenty-eight years ago. Because the Heroes of Light traveled through time, they can now see it before its destruction, when it represented the peak of civilization in Crystallis. It is officially part of the Kingdom of Aqures, yet the Tarutaru government is free of any outside influences. A great experimentation on the Crystals and Magitek is conducted in the Temple of Fire, led by Professor Palitutu. The city is very similar to Aqures Ixen-- It is divided in Districts and the place is a hybrid of refined yet classic Ancient constructions and more basic constructions made by the Tarutarus. People from all over the worlds are gathered there, as the Celebration of the Festival of Light are taking place there this year. With the tourists and guests, the population of the city is estimated to several million people. |
FIRST DISTRICT – ROYAL CASTLE Located north of the city, this district encompasses the Castle of Aqures Tosf, home to the Royal Family of Aqures Ixen when they visit this city. Much like the castle in Aqures Ixen, it is an Ancient construct. Paintings all over the castle depicts the Legends of the Ancients, Eidolons, Heroes of Light and of the Calamity. Most administrative and legal matters are taken care of in this castle and this is also where the government of Aqures Tosf operates. The castle is closed to the Hero and is currently home to the King and the Queen as well as to their young daughter, Princess Sarah. |
SECOND DISTRICT – RESIDENCES The second district is a residential area. Located directly in the vicinity of the castle, this is where most resident of Aqures Tosf live. The residences ranges from luxurious to modest, but not all of the population of the city can be found here. Indeed, many are those preferring to live in other districts, for reasons personal to them. |
THIRD DISTRICT – HISTORICAL CENTER Located in the center of the city, the third district is the historical center where is located a gigantic dome, hosting archaeological discoveries relating to the Ancients. Generally the dome is closed to the public, but because it is the great exposition of the Festival of Light, there are countless things on exposition that everyone can come to see and visit-- Even Ultima Weapon can be found there, except it is currently deactivated. Surrounding the dome are libraries and museum, all dedicated to the Legend of the Crystals and the History of Crystallis. This district isn't very frequented, except by Moogles who are in charge of the libraries and museum. |
FOURTH DISTRICT – CHURCHES This district is home to a grand total of three churches. One of them is dedicated to Eidolons, another to the Heroes of Light whilst the last one doesn't seem to be dedicated to anything in particular, much like in Aqures Ixen. The citizens of Aqures Tosf appear to celebrate Eidolons as protectors and praise the Heroes as saviors. Bahamut is the Eidolon said to protect Aqures Tosf. |
FIFTH DISTRICT – HEALTH CENTER This district is home to the hospital of Aqures Tosf and various therapy centers. Unlike the Hospital of Aqures Ixen in present time that lacks in doctors and healers, the Hospital here is well-staffed. Most Healers seem to be Tarutaru, but some Hypello, Human and Moogles work there as well. |
SIXTH DISTRICT – MILITARY BASE This District is home to the military headquarters of the Kingdom of Aqures. The Aqurean Armies are quite impressive, and while the District is closed to visitors, it is no stretch to say that back then, the Kingdom of Aqures was probably as dangerous as the Heran Empire is today. |
SEVENTH DISTRICT – TEMPLE OF FIRE The Temple of Fire is strictly identical to the temples that can be found in Trano Golsaucia and the County of Flence, except it seems to be equipped with the latest technologies and is closed to the public. The Militaries stationed nearby prevent access to the Temple and only authorized people can go there. Even the brilliant Doctor Cid of Roalie is forbidden to go there, just because he emitted doubts regarding the research led in this place. The experiments led on the Crystal of Fire are led by a Tarutaru, Professor Palitutu. She is assisted in her work by a number of brilliant scientists such as Dr Kuporg or Dr H. Sakaguchi. There are also a lot of assistants working there, one of them being a younger Kalki. |
EIGHT DISTRICT – EDUCATION In this district can be found schools where the children of Aqures Tosf go. There is also an university, where students go to study their "Job". Depending on what Job they have taken and what level of mastery they desire, the studies vary from three to twelve years. Most teachers here are Tarutarus and it is the time of the year where Black Mage and Paladin students are to pass their exams. |
NINTH DISTRICT – MOGNET DEPARTMENT This district houses the Mognet Office of Aqures Tosf. Moogles fly all over this district, rushing in and out of Mognet at speeds normal people can only dream of. It also houses most of the Moogle population of Aqures Tosf. However, the Mognet Office is currently closed due to a strike. Indeed, some things never change. |
TENTH DISTRICT – ENTERTAINMENT In this District, there is a Blitzball Stadium and a Triple Triad competitive center. Blitzball is a very popular sport in Crystallis, dating back to the era of the Ancients. When not used for Blitzball, the stadium is used for other sports as well and the Triple Triad center is sometimes used for different card games. There is also a Casino and most noticeably an Opera there, where most theater plays happen. |
ELEVENTH DISTRICT – SHOPPING AREA This District is where the population of the Aqures Tosf comes for all shopping needs. There are all kind of shops, ranging from clothing to food stores. It is also dedicated to activities for tourists and is a place where much of the Festival of Light's attractions can be found. |
TWELFTH DISTRICT – PORT This district is where boats come and go. Indeed, Airships were still in their infancy at this point and Cid hadn't finished his designs back then, thus there are no Airships to find in this place, only boats. |
