AAAAA sorry about that! Let me know if this is long enough.
Eiji was a traveler at heart, he always had been. Even when he was a child and he was just going on business trips with his family, he never missed a chance to see the world. He only came to appreciate this more as he got older and his maternal Grandfather began taking him overseas.
His Grandfather had a very different way of looking at things than the rest of his family. Where Eiji's parents were figures in Japanese politics, and were very business and image oriented, his grandfather was the opposite. He saw the importance of living day to day, and taking the time to learn and understand things, to appreciate something whether it was pretty or not. When he went with his grandfather, they visited places off the beaten path- they met the people who lived there, spoke with them and learned their stories.
Eiji decided that that was the only way he ever wanted to travel. Even after his grandfather's passing, he still vowed to do the same, even if it meant traveling alone. While he had done well, saw many places, met many people, and helped those he could reach his hands out to, it was never quite the same. Traveling alone was different.
So, despite the heavy hearts which everyone of Camp Half-Blood departed with, Eiji couldn't help the faint smile on his face. They were facing a monster ageless as the earth itself. Their odds were hopeless and their plan was shaky, but Eiji couldn't find himself bothered with that.
He wasn't alone anymore. When he took his first step outside the barrier, two other sets of feet were by his side. They had a long quest ahead of them, but Eiji was fine with that. They would pull through- between Ankh's tenacity and Artemis' smarts, they would have a tomorrow to look forward to.
