Revised personality

Edgar Figaro is a kind man, mostly due to the upbringing of his parents, and was always taught to treat the pain of one's subjects as his own. This is probably why the Kingdom of Figaro has such autonomy, or at least seems to. Edgar long ago promised himself that he would give up anything for the good of his people, take on any indignity, even going so far as to nominally ally himself with the Gasthalean Empire, while still helping to fund and coordinate with the Returners. He never liked working with Kefka and Gesthal, but he's not above bending a knee to his enemies to distract them. His kindness is shown by the advice that he sometimes gives his friends, or his willingness to stand up for them if he feels that they're being treated poorly, like when he stood up for Terra in front of the Banon, the leader of the Returners after he was unnecessarily harsh to her. Other examples of this involve his refusal to take advantage of the merchants in Figaro Castle who tried to give him free goods due to his status.

One of the first things that most people would notice about Edgar, especially if they are attractive and female, is that Edgar has a certain...way of doing things. That's probably a nice way of putting it that Edgar will flirt with any woman on two legs. He isn't a slimeball, he isn't a predator, but instead, Edgar sees it as a game to play between two people, similar to a political negotiation. He is always respectful about it, polite, and if he notices that the other party doesn't seem to enjoy it, he will stop, if only because the game isn't fun unless two people play it. This flirtatious behavior hasn't always worked out in his favor, and he's been slapped more than one time, but it's just the way that he is.

Beneath the flirtatious exterior lies the mind of an inventor, and a man who can definitely make his inventions come to life. Because of this, Edgar is prone to periods of locking himself in his workshop so that he can build the next great invention that he's dreamed up, like the AutoCrossbow or the BioBlaster. Some of these tools seem a bit insane, but...well, his track record has been proven at this point, one would think. Of course, he'll usually come out of the workshop with a crazed look on his face, stubble, and probably some slight mercury poisoning, but that's just the hazards of the job. Another thing that this does is make Edgar really interested in researching and experiencing new things, which is why he was so impressed and excited to see Terra's display of magic. He's much like the cross between a scientist and a small child, so excited about the prospect of seeing actual magic in action that he was jumping around like a child. Sure, this could diminish his kingly demeanor, but who cares, there's something shiny to be seen!

As stated in an earlier paragraph, Edgar is willing to do anything to help his kingdom, and that goes doubly so for anyone whom he considers family. Despite not wanting to take the throne and crown, Edgar knew that it would chafe his brother even worse than it would him, and so fixed the coin flip so that would take the throne and rule the country. His williingness to provide Locke with a safe house for him and a major Empire fugitive is another example of the risks that he's willing to take for someone close. He will move heaven and earth for his family.

Edgar is also known for his cunning, his ability to think on his feet. He's a brilliant strategist and usually has an exit plan for any situation he's currently in, like his escape from Kefka and the submergence of Figaro Castle, or the plan to bring his people back after they'd been stuck in the sand in the World of Ruin. He was able to infiltrate a gang of thieves with the flimsiest of excuses, and despite his friends showing up on the scene, was able to keep his cool and not give up his Gerad alias.
