Gaara of the Desert | Naruto | Not Reserved | 3/3

Major CR:

Hajime Hinata
A fellow would-be victim of the ravenous creature.
Hinata is serious, logical, intelligent, and has common sense. Gaara finds it easy to communicate with him, which is surprising, considering his own social ineptitude. The biggest drawback is Hinata being a normal human, with limited capabilities of defending himself. For that reason, Gaara tries to find protection for him, if he can’t offer assistance directly. He considers Hinata an ally, and feels curious about his affiliation with the darkness.

Jun Kuroso
Someone that seems distant from other people, despite obviously caring for them.
His unique ability to summon creatures, intrigues Gaara, in a power perspective. Jun has a wide variety of offensive and healing skills, which makes him a valuable ally to fight alongside. They shared an awkward hug during the mistletoe event, and bonded over a discussion of plant life. While Jun speaks of shying away from being judged by people, Gaara believes that those bonds are still worth pursuing. Sensing some similarities between them, he knows better than to push Jun on the matter. It will take time for trust to grow, given these two fragile souls.

Kurakai
An almost ninja with impressive dancing and hunting abilities.
Kurakai came in with the initial group of arrivals, like Gaara. They first talked over the network, and finally met in person during the poisoned food event. After that, they didn't interact until the mistletoe incident, where they danced together, and Kurakai revealed more about himself. He shared some details of his past, as well as his culture and background.
While Gaara doesn't feel close to Kurakai, not even considering him an ally, he still stalks this intriguing warrior. Based on what he was told, Gaara feels a connection to him. However, like Jun, he can sense that Kurakai purposely keeps others at a distance, which he respects. He won’t push friendship on anyone else, since the subject is already a sensitive one for him.

Lavi
A wise and patient man, with eyes that have seen and experienced true pain.
Lavi has been honest and very forthcoming to Gaara, probably to the point of discomfort. Gaara feels a kinship with him, based on what he has learned. Apparently, they met in a different world before, so Lavi already “knows” him. While this aspect does make Gaara feel uncomfortable, he wants Lavi to recognize his own identity, and not that of… some previous version. Lavi possesses a very unique ability to record events, one that Gaara may consider asking him to use it, if the situation is right.

Luke
A fellow redhead brimming with kind, selfless consideration.
Luke is a later arrival that Gaara offered help and information to. Their bond didn't deepen until one particular night, when Gaara visits Luke after the latter woke up from a nightmare. Despite not being comfortable with physical contact, Gaara awkwardly hugs him, in an effort to give comfort. Sometime later, he offers to let Luke stay over in his apartment, whenever he is in City One.
Gaara knows there is more to their bond than Luke has revealed, up to this point. He suspects that Luke knows him from a previous world, similar to the situation with Sora and Lavi. Although he definitely wants to press Luke for more information, he refrains so that he doesn’t risk damaging their bond.

Riku
Best friends with Sora and Kairi.
Gaara first met him in City Two, where they decided to exchange information, since they shared a common goal. Riku surprised him by offering a very expensive battery – in honor of their alliance, he claimed. In return, Gaara gave him a protective sand shield, because he is a complete stranger to the concept of gifts, and believes that everything comes with a price.
Their bond steadily grows, as they continue to meet and talk, learning more about each other. Gaara is particularly protective of Riku, since he has already failed him once, during the winged monster incident. In spite of getting closer, Gaara still doesn’t consider him a friend, due to a couple of complications that they haven’t resolved yet. Until the air gets cleared between them, he will keep an emotional distance from Riku, for the sake of self-preservation.

Third-Person Sample:
How ironic, for a monster to hunt another monster.

And yet, so fitting. He could already predict its behaviors, based on the pattern so far. The monster would pose as still statues, or lurk within the long shadows of tall structures. Watching and waiting, stalking its prey with diligent effort and patience. Whenever attention was alerted, it would disappear, as though nothing more than a figment of someone’s imagination.

It had come to track him again, a third day and night… Fortunately, Gaara was able to throw it off track, by carefully dispersing clones of himself throughout the city. While avoiding its scrutiny, he wondered if Riku and Hinata were still being stalked by the loathsome creature. He would need to contact them soon and ask, before they were cornered, alone and helpless. What did the monster intend to do to them? It had yet to attack, but he strongly doubted it was following them for no reason.

Tomorrow morning, it would be the start of the cycle, yet again. He expected to catch sight of the winged creature once more, trying – and failing – to remain inconspicuous.

Night had fallen, and the Suna ninja was conducting a patrol of the premises. A few of his allies had attempted to contact him since the post to the network, but he discouraged any in-person meetings. There was little sense in endangering their lives, simply by association. At several points throughout the route, Gaara would stop and look around, in anticipation of the creature making an appearance… at any time. He didn’t pay very close attention to the actual aspects of the settings, and the strange new floral decorations bore little importance to him.

Hours later, Gaara retreated to the garden, and peered up at the bleak sky. The presence of the moon was comforting, whenever it wasn’t a full one. One hand idly pressed against the sturdy trunk of the tree beside him, drawing support from it. He was completely oblivious to what hang above his head, as it wasn’t easy to identify in the darkness, and could be easily mistaken for a group of leaves.

Mognet Sample:
[Even after being told of his new purpose, he is still in disbelief. It takes some convincing from his Moogle before he finally asks her to compose a message.]

For those of you that are affiliated with Suna or Konoha, respond immediately.

[And then, while trying to think of what else to say, the mission aspect lingers in the back of his mind. It’s not very different from missions at home, except that he hasn’t been on one in the past few months or so. Part of him wants to list out the names of people he knew from the previous world, but he doesn’t feel comfortable enough to do so.]

In addition, I am requesting details and offers from groups that require more team members for missions. It would be prudent to exchange skill information on our respective Job Classes.
