Ashelia shook her head. She agreed with Ramza wholeheartedly, and she wanted nothing more than to visit very explicit violence on the small creature, but there was a time and a place for that. She reined herself in, taking a deep, visible breath.
"The crystals," Ashelia remarked quietly, gathering her thoughts before continuing. "It all comes back to the crystals. The Empire has possession of the Crystal of Earth, no? After Aqures Tosf, the Lady Kalki moved on to the Empire, who would have no qualms funding her research further. She is privy to the secrets of Crystallis. That much we know." She started pacing, one hand going to her chest as was her habit.
"How, though, is not the question that needs answering at the moment." Ashelia looked at Ramza, trying to catch his eye. She wasn't trying to dismiss his question - they would eventually need to know, after all "If what the creature says is true, then I highly doubt she explained the process fully. The clues she's laid for us to find in the past have been threadbare enough. 'Tis something of a pattern."
The more she spoke, the more Ashelia was able to distance herself from her rage. This was who they needed, not the widow sobbing in the town square. "Perhaps a better question is: why? Why did you attempt to summon King Moggle Mog? Why would Kalki support this effort? How did it benefit her?" The queen turned to the moogle after favouring her companions with another reassuring glance, placing a supportive hand on Ramza's shoulder. "What is your relationship with her?"
